Nick Martinez allowed two earned runs on six hits while striking out three batters over six innings in Monday's 3-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

After working as both a reliever and starter with the Cincinnati Reds in 2025, the Tampa Bay Rays made it clear early on that Martinez would work solely as a starter to begin the year. He was solid in his Rays debut, issuing no walks, with his only real damage coming on a two-run shot by William Contreras in the sixth inning. Martinez will look to deliver another strong outing Sunday against the Minnesota Twins.
