Jordan Romano blows second straight save Wednesday

by David Leisering | Angels Correspondent | Thu, Apr 16th 7:35am EDT

Jordan Romano suffered his second consecutive blown save as he allowed two runs on two hits and a walk, while recording just one out, in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Yankees.

Fantasy Impact:

Romano didn't get help from his defense on Wednesday as a one-out pop-up dropped between Zach Neto and Oswald Peraza to start the Yankees' rally. A walk and a walk-off double later and Romano had his second straight blown save. Romano got off to a fast start to the season but imploded in the series against the Yankees. In his first six appearances, Romano was 4-for-4 in save opportunities and did not allow a run - or a hit - in five innings. However, in his last two appearances, he is 0-2 with two blown saves and allowed five runs on five hits and three walks in one-third of an inning. Romano went from a 0.00 ERA to an 8.44 ERA in the blink of an eye and the timing couldn't be worse as Kirby Yates is inching closer to his return. It looked like Romano might have remained in the closer's role, but now all bets are off.
