Carson Kelly comes through in a pinch Saturday
by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Sun, Apr 19th 1:01am EDT
Carson Kelly broke a 1-1 tie with a pinch-hit, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Cubs defeated the Mets, 4-2, on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact:
Kelly replaced Moises Ballesteros when the Mets summoned Brooks Raley from the bullpen with two on and two out in the bottom of the sixth. He hammered the first pitch he saw from Raley over the center field wall - a 405-foot shot - that gave the Cubs a 4-1 lead. It was his second home run of the season and he is now hitting .340 (17-for-50) with 10 runs batted in across 17 games. All three catchers - Ballesteros, Kelly, and Miguel Amaya - are swinging the bat well and will continue to split catching duties and starts at designated hitter among the three of them.
