JR Ritchie impresses in MLB debut Thursday

by Nate Miller | Braves Correspondent | Fri, Apr 24th 9:33am EDT

JR Ritchie allowed just two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out seven over seven innings in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Nationals.

Fantasy Impact:

Ritchie actually made some history on Thursday afternoon, becoming the first Braves pitcher to allow two or fewer runs while striking out at least seven batters over seven innings in his MLB debut. Obviously, the rookie right-hander impressed all onlookers, as he limited the Nationals to just a pair of solo homers and needed only 89 pitches (54 strikes) to get through seven frames. Ritchie seems likely to remain in the Braves' rotation after this outing.
