Matthew Boyd picks up second victory of season Sunday

by David Leisering | Cubs Correspondent | Sun, May 3rd 11:49pm EDT

Matthew Boyd went a season-long six innings on Sunday and allowed two runs on four hits, walked one, and struck out five as the Cubs defeated the Diamondbacks, 8-4.

Fantasy Impact:

Boyd's only blemish of the day came off the bat of Gabriel Moreno, when he hit a two-run homer off of Boyd in the second. Otherwise, the Cubs' lefthander kept the Arizona offense at bay all afternoon in what was his best start since coming off the injured list on April 22. Through five starts this season, Boyd is 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA and a 31:6 K:BB ratio and will take those numbers into his next start against the Rangers on Friday.
