Tyler Rogers earns save in win over Marlins Wednesday

by Brenton Kemp | Blue Jays Correspondent | Thu, May 28th 11:54am EDT

Blue Jays right-hander Tyler Rogers pitched a clean ninth inning to earn the save in a 2-1 win over the Marlins on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Blue Jays manager John Schneider elected to go with closer Louis Varland in the eighth inning against the heart of the Marlins lineup, opening the door for Rogers to step in and earn his second save of the season in the ninth. The submariner induced a popout, a flyout, and a lineout to aid the Blue Jays to a narrow victory. Rogers sports a tidy 2.52 ERA through 26 outings and 25 innings pitched this season, inducing ground-balls on 66.2% of the balls put into play against him.
