Casey Mize uneven in loss to Yankees Tuesday

by Brenton Kemp | Tigers Correspondent | Wed, Jun 24th 9:57am EDT

Tigers right-hander Casey Mize allowed four earned runs on eight hits while striking out six across 5 2/3 innings, taking the loss on Tuesday against the Yankees.

Fantasy Impact:

Mize held the Yankees scoreless through three innings before the Yankees got on the board with a run in the fourth. Still, Mize seemed poised for a potential win with a 3-1 lead heading into the sixth, but a Jazz Chisholm two-run homer and an Austin Wells RBI double gave the Yankees a 4-3 lead that would wind up being the final score, tagging Mize with the loss. The right-hander allowed eight hits and walked one while striking out six. Nonetheless, the former No. 1 pick will take a sturdy 2.95 ERA into his next scheduled start at home against the Astros on Sunday.
