Shane Bieber knocked around in season debut Tuesday versus Astros

by Brenton Kemp | Blue Jays Correspondent | Wed, Jun 24th 10:25am EDT

Blue Jays right-hander Shane Bieber allowed four earned runs on nine hits across 3 2/3 innings in his season debut on Tuesday against the Astros.

Fantasy Impact:

Bieber hadn't pitched since the World Series last fall, and it showed on Tuesday. The veteran was rocked for nine hits, including a hefty three homers, in his brief 3 2/3 innings of work. He didn't walk a batter, but struck out just two while also allowing two doubles for five extra-base hits surrendered on the day. Fantasy managers will likely need to exercise patience with the former AL Cy Young winner, but Bieber's dwindling strikeout numbers and significant injury history in recent years suggest he may not be an impactful fantasy arm this season.
