George Lombard Jr. has been called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre by the New York Yankees according to Jack Curry. (Jack Curry on Twitter)

Lombard Jr. joins the big league club after impressing to this point in the minors, posting a .909 OPS with 12 home runs, 14 stolen bases, and 33 RBI with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The club’s top prospect will look to offer manager Aaron Boone another impactful bat in a Yankees lineup missing key contributors Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and Cody Bellinger. In a corresponding move, Anthony Volpe was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
