Garrett Richards has torn UCL in right arm
by Jamison Malasko | Fri, May 6th 10:54am EDT
As first reported by John Passan of Yahoo, Garrett Richards has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and is expected to need Tommy John surgery. Richards left his previous start to what they were calling dehydration and his start today was in question with fatigue. The 27-year-old was 1-3 on the year with a 2.34 ERA. (John Passan on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This is a huge blow to the Angels as they are now going to be missing their frontline starter for the rest of the year. Richards had a solid 2015 season going 15-12 with a 3.65 ERA. This injury leave the Angels extremely thin for arms as C.J wilson has been on the disabled list and this morning Andrew Heaney joined him with a strained flexor muscle.
