Evan Gattis breaks his own home run record Monday

by James Ignatius Zeankowski | Tue, Sep 20th 2:25am EDT

Serving again as team DH during Monday evening's 4-2 victory over the Oakland Athletics, Evan Gattis went 1-for-3 with his 28th home run of the year, surpassing his single season record of home runs from the 27 he had in 2015. He was also intentionally walked and struck out twice. In spite of this, Gattis is still holding to a strong .246 average and .815 OPS on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Gattis continues the consistently patient and productive hitting with a new career high in pitches per plate appearance (P/PA) of 3.80 in 2016 so far. He also has a slash line of .285/.358/.575 since the All Star Break. In addition, Gattis is 5-for-16 over the past five games, with two home runs and three RBI in that stretch. This would explain why his 0-for games, like the one he had the day before in Seattle, have been quickly getting put behind him. As a result, El Oso Blanco also has the second highest OPS in the Astros' starting lineup at .815, another new offensive career high surpassing even that of George Springer's .805, and second only to Carlos Correa's .820, as it stands right now. Fantasy owners must make it a priority to start #10 consensus ranked catcher, Evan Gattis, on your rosters without fail.
