Alex Colome officially demoted from high-leverage role

Alex Colome will no longer be used in high-leverage situations, according to manager Rocco Baldelli.

Fantasy Impact

Colome's demotion opens the door for Taylor Rogers to become the Twins closer. Colome has two saves in five chances, while Rogers has one save, one blown save, and three holds. From a skills standpoint, the move makes sense, and if Rogers keeps pitching the way he has been, then Colome may never regain the closer's role.

Alex Colome takes loss Monday

Minnesota Twins closer Alex Colome allowed two runs and did not record an out in the 10th inning of a 5-3 loss to Cleveland on Monday.

Fantasy Impact

Colome served up a walk-off two-run homer to Jordan Luplow, the first batter he faced in the 10th inning. It has been a rough start to the year for Colome, who has converted just 2-of-5 save chances while posting a 6.75 ERA.

Alex Colome blows third save

Fantasy Impact

Colome was charged with a blown save and given the loss on the afternoon. The veteran reliever was signed as a free-agent in the offseason to solidify the back of the bullpen but things have not gone smoothly as he has a 5.63 ERA and three blown saves on the season. His grip on the ninth-inning role is shaky at best.

Fantasy Impact
