Anthony Rendon agrees to seven-year, $245 million deal with Angels

Free-agent third baseman Anthony Rendon is in agreement on a seven-year, $245 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels, according to multiple reports.

Fantasy Impact

The Angels were reportedly in on Gerrit Cole before he signed with the New York Yankees, and it appears that they quickly pivoted to Rendon. The seven years and $245 million are the same numbers that the Nationals gave to Rendon's former teammate Stephen Strasburg earlier this week. Rendon is coming off a career year in 2019, hitting .319 with 117 runs scored, 34 home runs, 126 RBI, and five stolen bases, and he'll now join Mike Trout in the middle of the Los Angeles lineup.

Anthony Rendon, Angels reportedly in 'active talks'

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Los Angeles Angels are in "active talks" with free agent third baseman Anthony Rendon.

Fantasy Impact

Rosenthal adds that the Angels are trying to get this deal done tonight. There are no financial terms just yet but Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News adds that the Rangers are no longer in on the star third baseman. Rendon could be joining Mike Trout in southern California by the end of the night. Stay tuned.

Anthony Rendon still being pursued by Nationals

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo says the team still plans to pursue Anthony Rendon following the re-signing of Stephen Strasburg.

Fantasy Impact

Nats owner Mark Lerner said last week that the team probably can't afford both stars. However, Washington has shown us before that they aren't afraid to spend money.

Anthony Rendon rejects qualifying offer from Nationals

Anthony Rendon rejected his qualifying offer from the Nationals Thursday. He will become a free agent.

Fantasy Impact

Rendon rejected a one year, 17.8 million qualifying offer. The Nationals will receive draft-pick compensation if he signs elsewhere. Rendon was the NL MVP runner-up and had a terrific 2019 campaign, slashing .319/.412/.598 with 34 home runs, 126 RBI, 117 runs and five stolen bases across 146 games.

Anthony Rendon handed one-year qualifying offer from Nationals

Anthony Rendon received a one-year, $17.8 million qualifying offer from the Nationals.

Fantasy Impact

Rendon will undoubtedly turn this down as he's due for a massive pay day this winter. The 29-year-old had a great regular season before becoming a true superstar this October.
