The Los Angeles Angels and third baseman Anthony Rendon have agreed to a contract buyout, ending his tenure with the club.

The final one year and $38 million of Rendon's contract will be deferred over the next three to five years as part of the agreement, allowing the Angels some more financial wiggle room this offseason. Rendon's seven-year, $245 million contract he signed with the Angels prior to the 2019 season was nothing short of a disaster as he hit .242 with 22 home runs and a .717 OPS across just 257 games played, generating a 3.9 bWAR in the process.
