Eligibility
Los Angeles Angels third baseman is said feeling fantastic after another injury-plagued 2022 season.
Fantasy Impact
Between long-term hamstring and wrist injuries, Rendon has suited up for just 105 games across the last two seasons for the Halos. After a fine first season in L.A., Rendon has fallen well below his standards since, hitting just .235 with 11 home runs and a .709 OPS across 442 trips to the plate. If the Angels are to play postseason baseball for the first time since 2014, they will need a healthy season from their $245 million third baseman.
Anthony Rendon is expected to be in the starting lineup Monday against the A's.
Fantasy Impact
Rendon was activated from the IL last week and has been serving a suspension since then. Rendon has wanted to try to get back on the field before the end of the season for "peace of mind", and will end up doing just that. He has hit .228/.324/.383 in 45 games this season.
Anthony Rendon (wrist) took batting practice on the field Monday. He is expected to be activated before the end of the season.
Fantasy Impact
This was the first time Rendon has taken BP since his wrist surgery in June and it seems like his overall recovery progress has been good. He does have a 5 game suspension from June that he still has to serve, but Rendon still wants to play before the end of the season for some peace of mind. He figures to be activated sometime in mid-September, serve the 5 game suspension, and then play the last week or so.
Major League Baseball announced 3B Anthony Rendon would serve a five-game suspension following the benches-clearing brawl in Sunday's game against the Mariners.
Fantasy Impact
The third baseman was cited for his "actions during the incident and leaving the dugout while on the Injured List." In Rendon's situation, he will serve the suspension upon returning from the IL, which will not be until next season. In addition to that suspension, Rendon is prohibited from sitting on the bench for the Angels' next seven games. Unless you play in a league where bench players earn points for cheering, there is no fantasy impact until 2023.
Angels 3B Anthony Rendon will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his right wrist early next week, the team announced on Twitter Friday afternoon.
Fantasy Impact
Rendon has appeared in just 155 games over the last three seasons with the Angels, though one of those is the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. He has slashed .252 / .359 / .421 with 20 home runs and 91 RBI over those 155 games. Injuries have unfortunately become a recurring issue for Rendon, who turned 32 less than two weeks ago. He has four years and $154M left on his contract with the Angels. Infielders Luis Rengifo and Matt Duffy figure to see time at third base for Los Angeles in the short term.
