Fantasy Impact: Cruz made his major league debut last season with the Padres, appearing in two games with San Diego. He allowed two runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 3.2 innings. The 27-year-old righthander has pitched seven seasons in the minors, both as a starter and as a reliever, and has a 3.80 ERA with 552 strikeouts in 478 innings. Cruz will try to earn a bullpen spot with the Padres during spring, but most likely will head to Triple-A El Paso to start the season.

Fantasy Impact: Solak was drafted in the second round by the Yankees in the 2016 MLB Draft and was once a top-100 MLB prospect. He has played parts of six seasons in the majors and is a career .250 hitter in 985 plate appearances. Solak saw his most extensive work in 2021 when he played 127 games for the Rangers and batted .243 with 11 home runs. He spent most of last season in Triple-A and batted .332 with 14 home runs for Indianapolis in the Pirates' organization. He has experience playing nearly every position and his versatility gives him a shot to break camp with the Padres.
