Brian Goodwin has officially reached a deal with the White Sox on Tuesday and should join the MLB roster in the coming days.
Just a day after OF Luis Robert was announced to miss 12-16 weeks, general manager Rick Hahn found a placeholder that can immediately play good defense anywhere in the outfield. On offense, Goodwin lacks much to be desired. While he had a solid 2019, he had a porous .215/.299/.417 slashline in 2020. Any offense Goodwin provides should be seen as a bonus on top of his above-average defense.

Goodwin was projected to earn about $3 million in his second year of arbitration. The 30-year-old hit .215 with a .716 OPS between the Angels and Reds in 2020.
