Minnesota Twins left-hander Caleb Thielbar allowed one run over two innings in a 7-2 win over the Mariners on Wednesday. He struck out four in the win.
Starter Bailey Ober only went four innings, so Thielbar was awarded the win as the most effective reliever in the contest. Thielbar now has a 1-0 record, 4.30 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 23 innings of work.
The Twins placed LHP Caleb Thielbar (groin) on the 10-day injured list.
The lefty reliever suffered the injury during Wednesday's game against Baltimore. The expectation is that he'll be sidelined for a couple of weeks.
Caleb Thielbar was called up Friday by the Twins from Triple-A to fill the role of left-handed reliever left vacant with Brian Duensing going to the DL.
Thielbar could be a useful pickup in deep leagues that value holds. Casey Fien will likely be the Twins' eighth inning man behind closer Glen Perkins, but Thielbar could pick up some holds if the team decides to use him similarly to Duensing.
