Carlos Estevez (foot) placed on IL

The Royals placed RHP Carlos Estévez on the 15-day injured list with a left foot contusion.

Fantasy Impact

Estevez is unlikely to be available on Monday against the Twins. The Royals will see if he needs a stint on the injured list. Lucas Erceg recorded a save on Sunday and could take control of the closer role in the Royals bullpen.

Caros Estavéz (RP-KC) blows save; credited with loss

Carlos Estévez suffered a disastrous outing in the Royals' 6-2 loss to the Braves on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

After the Royals took a 2-0 lead into the 9th inning, Estévez was summoned to close the door but instead surrendered six runs while recording only one out, whhile allowing four hits and six earned runs. With the game tied 2-2 and the bases loaded, Estévez surrendered a walk-off grand slam to Dominic Smith. Most alarming was Estévez’s fastball velocity, which averaged just 91.2 mph—a staggering 4.7 mph drop from his 2025 average (95.9 mph). His hardest pitch of the night reached only 92.3 mph. Estévez simply cannot be trusted in active lineups until his velocity returns to at least the 93–94 mph range. Fantasy managers should immediately prioritize adding Lucas Erceg or Matt Strahm.
