Catcher Chadwick Tromp went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a strikeout as the Giants fell to the Rangers by a score of 4-3 in extra-innings on Wednesday.
Tromp went back-to-back with Jason Vosler in the top of the fifth inning to put the Giants up 2-0. It was Tromp's first bomb of the season. The 26-year-old backstop is 4-for-9 with a home run and two RBI since being called up to back up Buster Posey.
The Giants placed Chadwick Tromp on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain.
Tromp was scratched from Monday's lineup and it's serious enough to require an IL stint. The 25-year-old is done for the season. Rookie Joey Bart will finish out the week as the Giants' primary catcher.

Tromp has been Cueto's battery mate all season, which is what makes this noteworthy. No reason was given for the late scratch but the team will provide an update at the conclusion of the game.

Tromp got the scoring started for San Francisco when he smacked a two-run homer off Mike Minor in the top of the third inning. He would tack on a pair of singles and score another run in the lopsided win. The backup catcher is slashing .213/.219/.426 with four home runs and 10 RBI across 61 at-bats on the season.

Tromp got the start at catcher as Joey Bart had the day off. He walloped his third home run of the year off Alex Young in the bottom of the third inning to put San Francisco on the board. The backup catcher has a .189/.196/.377 batting line with three homers and seven RBI across 53 at-bats. He holds no fantasy value.
