Christian Bethancourt pitched in relief for one inning and allowed two unearned runs before finishing the game at second base on Tuesday.
Bethancourt was pulled after just 33 pitches when the Padres initially hoped that he could finish out the game, coming in to relieve in the eighth inning. Bethancourt is not advised as an option, giving up eight runs and eight walks in just 3 and 2/3 innings as a reliever. Bethancourt was relieved by Shortstop Erick Aybar.

Even in the shallow position of catcher, Bethancourt wasn't fantasy relevant. He struggled to get on base and didn't offer much power. He's likely done for the season considering the injury.

It was a nice showing for Bethancourt, but it's hard to rely on him due to his lack on consistency. Bethancourt will need to continue to produce down the final stretch of the season to gain respect from fantasy owners.

Bethancourt had a big night going 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and two RBIs to go along with his game-winning HR. However, he still is hitting a meager .205 and should not be considered as a viable fantasy option at catcher. The Braves will give Bethancourt chances to prove he is their catcher of the future. Check in the second half of the season to see if Pierzynski still has some tread on the tires or if Betancourt gets hot.
