The Indians sent RHP Dominic Leone outright to their alternate training site.
Leone was DFA'd last week and cleared waivers. He has an 8.38 ERA in 12 appearances this season.
Dominic Leone picked up the save against the Padres on Sunday, striking out one in 0.2 innings.
Leone has not been used in high-leverage situations by the Cardinals this year, but after Carlos Martinez pitched 2.2 relief innings earlier in the game, Leone's name was called to close out the game in the 11th inning. Despite the clean outing, Leone still sports a dismal 7.20 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 23 appearances this year.
Dominic Leone (biceps) will hit the DL prior to Sunday's game.
Leone suffered a nerve issue in his right bicep during Friday's outing against the Cubs. The right-hander was experiencing a cramping sensation while warming up. He'll be eligible to return on May 15th.
Dominic Leone was removed from Friday's game against the Chicago Cubs before he threw a pitch after suffering an injury while warming up, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports. Joe Trezza of MLB.com later reported that his exit was due to right biceps cramps.
Leone should be considered day-to-day for now, although a reliever exiting a game before facing a batter is a bit concerning. Leone's value is tied to fantasy leagues that reward holds at this point, as Bud Norris has emerged as the closer in St. Louis.
Dominic Leone pitched 1 1/3 innings Tuesday allowing one hit and striking out one batter on the day.
Leone has really improved since being taken out of the closers role early in the season. Leone has a great K/9 (11.57) and impressive 100% LOB%. Leone's xFIP (2.43) shows that he's a lot better than what his ERA shows. Leone would be a helpful addition to your lineup that counts holds.
