Edward Olivares has been placed on the IL with a left quad strain. Nick Pratto has been recalled.
Olivares has had a nice start to the season, hitting .303/.358/.434 in 36 games. Hopefully, he won't be out for too long and lose that momentum. Recently recalled Nick Pratto is in the lineup for the Royals Friday.
Edward Olivares went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Kansas City’s 7-4 win against Detroit on Sunday.
Olivares now has five hits in seven games since returning from the IL and three of them have left the park. Olivares is 18-for-59 with three home runs and eight RBI across 22 this season. Olivares had been hitting near the top of the Royals’ lineup prior to his injury and has been a welcome addition to an often anemic offense. Olivares should continue to start daily for Kansas City as long as he stays healthy.
Edward Olivares went 1-for-2 with an RBI in Kansas City’s 5-3 loss to Oakland on Sunday.
Olivares hit a go-ahead RBI single in the Royals’ 3-run 6th inning to put his team up 3-2 but that was the end of Kansas City’s scoring on Sunday. Olivares picked up the RBI single pinch-hitting for Ryan O’Hearn against reliever Sam Moll. Olivares has gone 3-for-10 with two home runs and three RBI in three games since returning from a 45-day stint on the IL and is hitting and has hit safely in nine of his last 1 games dating back to April 29 before his quad strain. The 26-year old is slashing .300/.300/.900 in 45 at-bats this season and should continue to see regular playing time as Kansas City is desperately in need of consistent hitting.
Edward Olivares went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in Kansas City’s 3-1 win against Oakland on Friday.
Olivares homered in his first two at-bats returning from a right quad strain that had kept him out since May 9. Olivares had just started to work his way into everyday at-bats when he went down and should pick right back up where he left off if he keeps hitting. Olivares is hitting a cool .395 with a 1.097 OPS bd has two stolen bases in 16 games this season. Olivares should be activated by fantasy managers and the recent loss of Salvador Perez means MJ Melendez will be behind the plate and not in the outfield moving forward opening more of a path to playing time for the 26-year old.
Edward Olivares began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Friday as he continues to work back from a quad strain according to MLB.com’s Anne Rogers.
Olivares will need several games to regaining his timing having been out since May 8. Olivares had started to entrench himself near the top of Kansas City’s order before going down and should help Kansas City’s 26th ranked offense (3.6 runs/game).
