Edwin Jackson carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his first start of the season. He ultimately allowed three runs (two earned) on one hit and five walks with four strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.

Fantasy Impact: It was good enough for the win, and it was very surprising considering Jackson's struggles in the minors prior to his debut. He's worth monitoring moving forward considering his track record.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson will likely get some interest on waivers because of his experience and is unlikely to stay in the Marlins organization.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson was used to mop up the last three innings of a 10-0 loss on Monday. He pitched three innings, allowing three runs on five hits while getting three strikeouts.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson was likely told he was going to finish the game when he came into the seventh inning. He allowed a two run home run to Sean Rodriguez, but otherwise pitched fairly well. He will continue to work in middle relief.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson allowed three runs on on one hit and two walks in an inning of work, putting the alleged-playoff-hopeful Marlins at 0-5 this year against the worst team in baseball, the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Impact: The Marlins simply cannot beat the worst team in baseball. They have had a lead in all five games against the Braves and lost all five.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson put up a scoreless ninth inning on Tuesday, allowing a walk and a hit while striking out one.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson recently returned from a long stint on the disabled list, but he's started his season with a nice 1.35 ERA. He worked well as a reliever last season and should continue to do so in middle relief for the Marlins. He's not worth a fantasy roster spot.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson made his first appearance since returning from the disabled list. He was effective, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing just a walk and a hit.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson will presumably continue to pitch in middle relief, but given manager Don Mattingly's to-a-fault preference of using veterans, Jackson may end up in meaningful innings before long.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson last appeared for the Fish on April 17 before landing on the DL with a triceps injury. He wasn't great before the injury, walking and striking out the same number of hitters. Based on manager Don Mattingly's recent bullpen use patterns, Jackson will likely return to a critical role in close and late ballgames.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson wasn't great when healthy, but the Marlins are hoping he can be more effective now that he has recovered from his injury. He will pitch in middle relief.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson allowed a run on two hits and a walk in the tenth inning of Sunday's game.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson was called upon after the Marlins tied the game in the ninth, but he made quick work of untying it, earning the loss as the Marlins were swept by the formerly winless Atlanta Braves.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson had a rough outing on Sunday, allowing two hits in 2/3 of an inning and allowing three inherited runners to score.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson came into a rough bases loaded, one out situation and allowed all three base runners to score before ending the inning. None of the runs go on his ERA, but it was a poor outing regardless.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson threw a scoreless inning on Wednesday, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out one.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson threw only half of his 24 pitches for strikes, but he was able to get away with it on a night that all other Marlins relievers struggled.

Miami Marlins reliever Edwin Jackson tossed a perfect sixth inning on Tuesday, striking out a batter and inducing two fly balls.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson could not crack the rotation in Spring Training, but he should be an effective member of the bullpen for the Fish. He has no fantasy value, however.

Miami Marlins pitcher Edwin Jackson struggled his way through two innings on Wednesday, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson will work out of the bullpen for the Marlins, as they announced the starting rotation without him in it. He will likely be a decent enough middle relief option, but he will not have much fantasy value.

Edwin Jackson bounces back

Miami Marlins pitcher Edwin Jackson had a much better outing on Thursday against the Mets, pitching three scoreless innings while giving up one hit, two walks, and hitting a batter with a pitch.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson was knocked around his first time out, so it was nice to see him get outs this time. His control wasn't great however, and he didn't strike anyone out. He is likely on the outside looking in in terms of a rotation spot.

Miami Marlins pitcher Edwin Jackson was destroyed in his first appearance in a Marlins uniform, pitching two innings while allowing five runs on eight hits.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson was throwing batting practice despite fighting for the fifth spot in the starting rotation. Considered the favorite to win the spot by some, he will need to string together some much better outings if he expects to stay on track.

Edwin Jackson vampired a win on Wednesday night, recording the final out of the eighth inning prior to a Braves rally in the ninth.

Fantasy Impact: His win consisted of a strikeout and stranding an inherited runner, so it was a solid appearance for Jackson's fourth win of the season. Jackson will likely be looking for a new home after the season's end.

Edwin Jackson allowed three walks in the tenth inning, as well as a hit, and was charged with three runs in yet another bullpen meltdown for the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Impact: An error by Hector Olivera didn't help Jackson's cause, nor did Danny Burawa walking Daniel Murphy with the bases loaded. Stay away from everyone in the Braves bullpen.

Fantasy Impact: Jackson is a shadow of the pitcher he used to be. At this stage of his career, although he's only 31 years old, he is relegated to middle relief duty and perhaps a spot start. He shouldn't be in the conversation as a fantasy option.

Edwin Jackson records a hold

Tue, Aug 25th 8:22am EDT
By Roy Widrig

After a rough start to his Braves career and taking the loss on Saturday, Edwin Jackson picked up a hold in the Braves 5-3 win over the Rockies on Monday night.

Fantasy Impact: The hold was somehow Edwin's first of the season. Jackson was used solely as a mop-up guy in Chicago, and only pitched in four games that the Cubs won all season. The Braves seem to have more faith in the veteran, or at least they have nothing to lose this season.

The Cubs have designated relief pitcher Edwin Jackson for assignment due to the promotion of Rafael Soriano from Triple-A Iowa. Chicago will have 10 days to trade, waive, or release Jackson.

Fantasy Impact: Rafael Soriano is expected to compete for an important bullpen role. Jason Motte appears to have a solid grasp on the closer role, but manager Joe Maddon has shown that he likes to pitch the hot hand, whoever that may be.

Starting pitcher Travis Wood got roughed up early and had to be pulled before the end of the 5th inning, leading to a train of relievers that ended in Edwin Jackson throwing a scoreless seventh and eighth. Jackson struck out two and only gave up one hit with no walks.

Fantasy Impact: Edwin Jackson had a horrific 2014 as a starter, but looked really solid in his first game of the season. If he continues to strikeout batters then he might be of use in league play, but the real question is whether or not he will get enough in game action as long relief.
