Aybar went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in the Tigers 10-5 win against the Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact: He has been seing the bulk of the playing time at shortstop and went 5-for-16 with three runs scored in the four-game series versus Boston. He will likely see his playing time reduced soon with starting shortstop Jose Iglesias beginning a rehab stint Monday.

The Braves continue their poor season with another loss on Tuesday. Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 with a 2B.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar's struggles continue this season. He has no fantasy value at this point with a low average of .213 and only one HR and 15 RBI. The shortstop also has two SB.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar continues his lackluster season batting .225. He has yet to go yard and only has 13 RBI and two stolen bases. Erick holds very little fantasy value right now, if any.

Aybar was plunked by an Adam Conley pitch Friday night. The team decided to place him on DL rather than let the injury linger. Daniel Castro will fill in.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar nor Castro has distinguished themselves up to this point so both deserve to be on the waiver wire.

Erick Aybar went 0-for-4 with one strikeout in Wednesday's tilt against the Pirates. Atlanta won 3-1 and will look for another victory on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has continued to struggle throughout the season. Things are not looking good for the SS, batting only .180 this season.

Category: , Game Recaps

Aybar went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts while batting ninth in the Braves' 5-0 win over the Royals on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has struggled offensively in his first season with the Braves batting just .182 with no home runs, four RBI, seven runs and two steals. Aybar will likely give way to top Braves prospect Dansby Swanson at some point later this season.

Category: , Game Recaps

Aybar went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in the Braves' 3-0 win over the Mets on Tuesday night.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar, who batted seventh and started at shortstop, is still batting an anemic .172 on the season. He has been one of the worst regulars in the game as his .400 OPS ranks dead last among shortstops. According to FanGraphs, he's also been "worth" -1.2 WAR defensively. Yikes!

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 2-for-4 in Friday's loss to the Chicago Cubs. Aybar looked more of his old self hitting two singles on the day.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar still isn't fantasy lineup worthy at this point, batting only .169 with one RBI and one SB. If he's able to get back into his groove like he had in LA, his stock and production will rise.

Category: , Game Recaps

The New York Mets got to work early in Atlanta on Friday night pouring on four runs in the second inning. The Braves never could catch up losing the contest 6-3. Erick Aybar made no contributions on the night going 0-for-4.

Fantasy Impact: Erick Aybar continues to be fantasy irrelevant. He owns a .148 batting average and has only one RBI this season. If Aybar can't get out of his slump, the Braves may be forced to call up some of their highly touted prospects at the SS position.

Category: , Game Recaps

Aybar went 0-for-5 in the Braves' 6-5 extra inning win over the Marlins to complete their three game sweep.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar is now 1-for-23 in his last two series against the Nationals and Marlins. He's yet to hit an XBH as his slash line is an anemic .136/.170/.136, some of the worst figures for a starter in the league at any position. Fredi Gonzalez is insane for thinking Aybar is a fit in the No. 2 hole in the lineup. All things considered, it's clear Erick Aybar should not be owned in any format.

Category: , Game Recaps

Aybar went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the Braves 12-2 loss to the Cardinals on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact: With Ender Inciarte out, Aybar was moved to the lead off spot. This is a boost to his value. He is a consistent albeit unspectacular fantasy performer who is only hitting .200 this season.

Erick Aybar went 3 for 3 on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies. One of Aybar's hits was a double and he also added an RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar was brought to Atlanta to fill the void of losing Andrelton Simmons. Aybar will look to bat in the top of Atlanta's lineup to open the season.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar was 2-for-5 with three RBI and a triple on Tuesday in Anaheim's 8-1 win over the A's.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has had a rather mediocre season, but so have most Angels after the poor effort the team put up until September. As the offense begins to heat up, Aybar stands to benefit.

Powered by two-run homers from Evan Gattis and Carlos Correa, the offense did its part, and the Astros topped the Los Angeles Angels 6-3 in a matchup of playoff hopefuls. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Aybar got a couple hits last night against the Astros with Dallas Keuchel on the mound. The rest of the Angels did not fair so well losing the first game in the three game series vs. the Astros. Aybar extended his hitting streak to 6 games with those two hits and bumps up his batting average to .271.

Aybar continues to struggle

Wed, Sep 16th 2:27pm EDT
By Joshua Krakowiak

Aybar goes 0-for-4 against the Mariners on Tuesday night.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar continues to struggle at the plate after not getting a hit on Tuesday night. His average has dipped down to .266 when just last week he had a six game hitting streak going and it was looking like he was starting to put it together. His stock will continue to fall as fast as his batting average unless his can start to get some decent run producing hits in the sixth spot in the Angels lineup.

Erick Aybar went 1-for-3 with a walk during Monday's loss to the Dodgers.

Fantasy Impact: After his resurgence, Aybar has struggled over the last month-plus. Monday's single was only his second hit of the month, good for an OPS of just .258 in September.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 0-for-4 Thursday against the White Sox.

Fantasy Impact: After a solid month of July, Aybar's season struggles have continued in August. He's been particularly bad this month, only mustering a .438 OPS over 63 at-bats.

Category: , Game Recaps

Angels shortstop Erick Aybar continued his recent hot streak at the plate on Saturday. Aybar went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles. He drove in a run and scored three in the 13-0 win over the Rangers. In the last two games, Aybar has eight hits in nine at-bats with three RBI and five runs scored. His batting average now sits at .280, the highest it's been since the second game of the season.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has added a much needed spark to the Angels lineup as they have scored 21 runs on 32 hits in the first two games against Texas. Aybar is worth the addition in most fantasy leagues even as a back up. The Angels offense is so dangerous that they can go off for runs like this at anytime and Aybar will score plenty of runs hitting around Mike Trout and Albert Pujols.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said shortstop Erick Aybar is expected to start on Monday against the Yankees. Aybar left Friday's game with a hamstring injury and did not start Saturday or Sunday. He did record a pinch-hit RBI in Sunday's 3-2 win in 10 innings over the Mariners.

Fantasy Impact: Hopefully this is nothing serious as Aybar was starting to break out of a slump he was in earlier in June. For the season Aybar is hitting .264/.305/.310.

Angels shortstop Erick Aybar extended his hitting streak to six games in a win over the Astros on Wednesday. Aybar went 3 for 6 and scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning. Aybar is hitting .400 with 10 hits, five runs and two RBI over his last six games.

Fantasy Impact: Ever since getting the day off back on June 18th, Aybar has been fantastic notching hits in all six games. Aybar is a formidable shortstop who can consistently rack up hits and score runs but you won't see much more of that from a fantasy prospective.

Angels manager Mike Scioscia opted to hold shortstop Erick Aybar out of the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks. It was just the third time Aybar was held out of the lineup this season as he has been in a 1-for-27 slump in his last seven games.

Fantasy Impact: Hopefully a day of rest will get Aybar going as he has been in an awful slump. His batting average has dropped over 20 points in the last week and is hitting .246 on the season.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar scored two runs going 1-for-4, drawing a walk and didn't strike out once in a win over the Rays.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar picked up where he left off after sitting out two games with a tight hamstring. He's been steady hitting since May and has hit in back-to-back games. He's a player on the rise after a slow start to the season and is worth a roster spot in most formats as a run producer who bats leadoff for a good Angels offense.

Erick Aybar was hustling down the first base line to beat out a bunt in the fifth inning when his hamstring tightened up causing him to be removed from the game. (Source: Alden Gonzalez)

Fantasy Impact: He actually tried to talk his way back into the game so this is probably just a minor issue. The Angels Manager Mike Scioscia considers Aybar day-to-day. He also said they will be careful though so expect him to miss a couple games. It sounds like serious injury has been avoided which is good news because Aybar has been hot in May. Still, hamstring injuries can be tricky so monitor the situation.

Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 with a single, a stolen base and no strikeouts against the Padres.

Fantasy Impact: He doesn't steal a lot of bases which is kind of weird for a shortstop but he is the lead off hitter for the Angels so he should have more opportunities. He also extended his current hitting streak to six games but the Angels offense has been struggling lately so he's not scoring a lot of runs right now.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 drawing a walk and striking out twice against the Padres.

Fantasy Impact: It was a bad game for the Angels offense as a whole. They only managed five hits as a team, two came from Albert Pujols. Aybar has had a hot May and had an 11 game hitting streak snapped a couple days ago but is back on a five game hitting streak. He's borderline top-tier shortstop and should be owned in almost all formats.

Erick Aybar went 2-for-4 with a single, double and two runs in a loss to the Redsox.

Fantasy Impact: He has steadily picked up his hitting and is becoming the shortstop you drafted. Aybar will never have gaugthy numbers as he doesn't hit for power or steal bases but he is a top 10 shortstop. He's now batting .274 with 19 runs and is back in the lead off spot which increases his value.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run HR against the Red Sox on Friday. He also struckout once in the game and recorded his first stolen base of the season.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar finally was able to get some counting stats for his owners, as his decent average (.269) was all he had been providing thus far. It's impossible to tell if this will be a trend, but Aybar should be active in all but the most shallow of mixed leagues regardless.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 2-for-4 collecting two singles and has now hit safely in his last eight games.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar is heating up at the plate so if he was dropped in your league and you haven't made a claim yet you probably missed the train. He's a good shortstop at a shallow position although he doesn't steal many bases or hit for power. However, he is now batting .275 and hits clean-up in a good Angels line-up.

Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 with a single and scored a run against the Orioles.

Fantasy Impact: He now has a seven game hit streak going and has raised his batting average to .269 with 12 RBI and 13 runs. Aybar isn't a bad shortstop but he doesn't steal a lot of bases or hit for any power. He's heating up and is still a good option at a relatively shallow position.

Erick Aybar went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, and a run scored against the Orioles on Friday. He also struckout once in the game.

Fantasy Impact: After April it seemed like a lost season was in the works for Aybar, as he was hitting .222 with no homers or stolen bases. However, Aybar is crushing thus far in May, hitting a blistering .347 with four RBI and eight runs scored. There still aren't a lot of counting stats to be had here, but Aybar has regained usefulness in deep mixed leagues, and is worthy of being a starter in AL-Only formats.

Erick Aybar went 3-for-4 with an RBI a double and two singles last night in an 11 inning game against the Marlins.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has been heating up at the plate as of late and has a nice five game hitting streak going. If he was dropped in your league now would not be a bad time to grab him as the SS position is very thin. He carries a decent batting average and is not a bad source of speed but we are still waiting on him to steal his first base this year.

Erick Aybar went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk against the Giants on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact: It may not seem like much, but the combination of a single and a walk made Aybar the only Angels player to reach base twice in the game on Sunday. However, Aybar is still hitting a pitiful .204, with no homers or stolen bases, and isn't worth using in mixed leagues, or really even AL-Only, unless you have no other choice.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 with a single and two RBI against the Athletics on Wednesday. He also struckout twice in the game.

Fantasy Impact: It hasn't been a stellar start to the season for Aybar, hitting just .211 with no homers or stolen bases thus far. Aybar was able to get two RBI in Wednesday's game, bumping his total up to seven for the month of April, but that's still little help to fantasy owners. Aybar should only be started in AL-Only formats if necessary, but there are better options even in those leagues.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run in the win.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has started every game for the Angels this season and is only hitting .220. He has shown in the past that he can be better. For the time I recommend not starting Aybar, but do keep him on your bench.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 1-for-4 in yesterday's Angels loss. His one hit was a single and he was thrown out trying to strech it into a double.

Fantasy Impact: Erick Aybar hit out of the leadoff spot yesterday, as Kole Calhoun was out with an injury. Calhoun is not expected back until Friday or Saturday, so Aybar will be getting a couple extra at-bats in the coming days. Aybar is only hitting .214 on the early season and will be looking to turn it around as the Angels face the Rangers tonight.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 1-for-3 with a single against the Mariners on Opening Day.

Fantasy Impact: Erick Aybar had one of the two Angels hits off of Felix Hernandez yesterday, the other of course being Mike Trout's home run. The Angels will need Aybar to build off of his success from last season to make up for the absence of Kendrick and Hamilton. Last season Aybar had a career high in hits with 164 and RBIs with 68, while hitting .278. With more plate appearances in the middle of the line-up this season Aybar should continue his success this season and should be a top ten shortstop in the MLB.

Erick Aybar went 1-for-3 with a solo-HR against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Fantasy Impact: This was Aybar's first HR of the spring and it was a very welcome sight to fantasy owners. Aybar isn't the most interesting of SS buys on draft day, but he's reliable and you can grab him late. A 10HR/20SB season is a good possibility.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar went 2-for-3 with a single and a RBI double against the Cubs on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Aybar has been heating up lately, with three multi-hit games in his last five appearances. The only negative so far is that he's only stolen one base, and has yet to hit a home run. Aybar, even after declining somewhat over the last few years, remains a top-10 SS in fantasy, and a 10 HR/20 SB season is still within reach.

Category: , Game Recaps

Erick Aybar is batting .231 with one triple and 8 total bases halfway through spring training. He has not attempted a stolen base in Grapefruit League play, unlike his previous nine tours in Arizona. (Source: ESPN)

Fantasy Impact: Aybar and Howie Kendrick, who was traded to the Dodgers in the offseason, weren't just the second-longest double-play combo in MLB at the end of 2014. They were also teammates in AA and AAA ball going back to 2005. Kendrick was in the final year of his contract this season, which is the same situation Aybar will face in 2016 - so transition might be heavy in the desert air. The Angels SS has shown a stable BABIP and OBP for four years, but his power and speed have steadily declined. If he can continue to improve on his K rate and line drive % as he did in 2013-14, he can still compile some counting stats and be a suitable injury replacement in 2015.
