He combined to hit .286 with 26 home runs in 529 plate appearances between High-A Greensboro and Double-A Altoona last season. The 22-year-old will get his first taste of Triple-A action to begin the season. With his intriguing power bat and position versatility at first base and at all three outfield positions, he is a name to watch in the Pirates' organization.
Pirates infield prospect Esmerlyn Valdez was injured sliding for a ball in foul territory on Tuesday and needed a cart to get off the field.
