Mize and Workman were dealt to the Padres in exchange for left-handed pitching prospect Kash Mayfield and fellow left-hander Jackson Wolf. Workman was in his second stint in the Tigers' organization after the club drafted him in the fourth round in 2020. The 26-year-old appeared in 16 games for the Tigers this season, and has hit .305 with 11 homers, 20 stolen bases, and an .868 OPS across 82 games for Triple-A Toledo.
