Eligibility
James McCann (oblique) activated from the IL prior to Thursday's matchup against the Braves.
Fantasy Impact
McCann has been out of the Mets lineup since July 10 due to an oblique injury. The veteran backstop has limped through an injury-plagued year so far, posting a mere .543 OPS with two homers across 92 plate appearances. Catcher Patrick Mazeika was optioned back to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
The Mets placed James McCann on the 10-day IL with an oblique injury on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
McCann has only been back from the IL since June 25th, and now will likely miss at least a few more weeks. There's no word yet on the severity of his oblique strain but timelines often range from as little as two weeks to more than a month. Fantasy managers can move on from McCann in all formats.
James McCann was removed from Saturday's game against the Marlins with discomfort in his left side. He will undergo an MRI on Sunday.
Fantasy Impact
It's a shame for McCann, who had just started to heat up after returning from a lengthy IL stint. This could be an oblique strain which would likely knock McCann out of action for weeks, but it's premature to draw conclusions just yet. The Mets should update his status tomorrow.
James McCann went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run on Thursday against the Marlins.
Fantasy Impact
McCann has had trouble getting going since returning from the IL, but he had a huge pinch-hit in extra innings on Wednesday and followed it up with a homer tonight. Once upon a time, he was a viable mixed-league option even in single-catcher formats. At age-32, it's more than likely that those days are over, but given his placement in a strong lineup like New York's, he should be considered in two-catcher leagues.
James McCann (wrist) has been activated from the 10-day IL. He is not starting in Friday's game. Patrick Mazeika has been optioned to Triple-A.
Fantasy Impact
McCann returns after battling with a wrist injury since May 10th. He was ineffective in his 64 plate appearances in 2022, slashing .196/.266/.286. He isn't a high priority to pick up right now, but he could provide some value at the catcher position if he can get his bat going as he did in 2020.
