RHP Joakim Soria worked a scoreless ninth inning, picking up a strikeout, in the Diamondbacks' 6-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
Soria got the job done on Wednesday, retiring all three batters he faced in order while preserving the win for Arizona. He's now 6-for-7 on save opportunities since July 1. The veteran reliever now owns a 4.45 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 29:8 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings on the season. There's a chance he could shipped off at the trade deadline but he's a decent add if you're in need of saves.
RHP Joakim Soria earned the save on Monday when he scattered a pair of hits with two strikeouts over one inning in the D-Backs' 4-2 win over the Pirates.
Soria worked his way around a pair of singles in the ninth inning and was able to secure his fifth save of the year for the D-Backs. He's been up and down as evidenced by his 4.61 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 28:8 K/BB ratio over 27 1/3 innings but he's the undisputed closer in the desert and that makes him fantasy relevant.
RHP Joakim Soria earned the save on Sunday when he came on in relief of starter Merrill Kelly in the ninth inning. He allowed one hit and struck out two over one inning in the D-Backs' 6-4 win over the Cubs.
Starter Merrill Kelly was rolling on Sunday, going all the way into the ninth inning before running into some trouble. Kelly allowed a double and an RBI single to start things off in the ninth before Soria came to the rescue. The veteran reliever did allow an RBI double to Rafael Ortega but the run was charged to Kelly. He was flawless other than that and winded up earning the save. This was a much-needed bounce back from Soria who blew his last save opportunity. He now owns a 4.78 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 26:8 K/BB ratio over 26 1/3 innings.
RHP Joakim Soria blew the save and took the loss on Saturday when he allowed three runs on three hits with a strikeout over one inning in the D-Backs' 4-2 loss to the Cubs.
Soria was tasked with protecting a narrow 2-1 lead and nearly got the job done before collapsing with two outs. He got two quick outs before serving up an RBI single to Robinson Chirinos and a two-run homer to Willson Contreras. It was his second blown save and fourth loss of the year. He's still the closer in Arizona for now but this was not a good outing.
RHP Joakim Soria locked up the save for the D-Backs on Friday when he worked a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout in a 5-2 win over the Dodgers.
Soria was tasked with protecting a three-run lead against the high-powered Dodgers on Friday night and got the job done with no issues. He hasn't allowed a run in six straight appearances, which has lowered his ERA to 4.07 to go along with a 1.32 WHIP and 23:8 K/BB ratio over 24 1/3 innings. He's now picked up three saves in the last five games and is the unquestioned closer in the desert. He should be a priority waiver add if you're in need of help in the saves department.
