Jordan Wicks allowed three runs on four hits with one strikeout in two innings as the Cubs dropped a 5-1 decision to the Cardinals on Sunday night.

Wicks made his second start of the season on Sunday and allowed three consecutive hits to start the game as the Cardinals scored a pair of first-inning runs. Wicks did retire six straight batters after the first three reached, but allowed a leadoff single in the third to end his night. It's been a rough time for the southpaw as he is 0-2 with a 15.63 ERA in two starts this season. Wicks has allowed 11 runs on 13 hits in 6.1 innings, but does have a 6:1 K:BB ratio. He is tentatively scheduled to start on Saturday against the Giants, but may not be needed if Edward Cabrera (finger) doesn't need an extended stay on the IL.

Wicks was summoned from Triple-A Iowa over the weekend and got the start on Tuesday in place of the injured Edward Cabrera (finger). The lefthander allowed five runs in the first inning then settled down before being charged for three more runs in the fifth. He walked one, struck out five, and threw 80 pitches on the day. He would get the ball again on Sunday in St. Louis if the Cubs decide to give him another opportunity.
