Fantasy Impact: The hit-less game is a big surprise from Altuve who was facing the lefty Sabathia. So far this season, Altuve is batting .361 against lefties with a 1.045 OPS. Despite his poor outing, Altuve is one of the most valuable fantasy options in all of baseball.

He has become a true five-tool player this season, as he has a legitimate chance for 30 home runs and 40 stolen bases to go along with his league-high batting average and could approach 125 runs scored as well.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has hits in each of his three games since the All-Star break to see his batting average stand at an American League-high .346. He maintains his ridiculous pace for the season, which could see him end up as fantasy baseball's top player: 75 extra-base hits, 100 RBI, 125 runs scored, and 40 stolen bases

Jose Altuve went 0-for-2 with two walks (one intentional) against the Athletics in an extra inning thriller. The Astros won 2-1.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve ends the first half as one of the leading candidates for AL MVP, but since the start of July he has struggled only hitting .211 with one home run and five RBI. Even with those numbers he is currently slashing .341/.413/.954 on the year and when the 2nd half kicks off, it would not be surprising if he regains the form he had for much of the season.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 scoring one run against the Mariners in an 8-7 victory.

Fantasy Impact: On the season Altuve is slashing .350/.422/.982 with 14 HR 49 RBI and 22 SB. He is currently leading all of MLB in batting average and is tied for the AL-lead in stolen bases. With a four-game set against the Athletics set to kick off tonight, Altuve should be in your lineups. The A's throw out lefty Rich Hill tonight, who Jose has a great track record against.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has hits in nine of his last 10 games, including multi-hit games in five of his last seven games and two four-hit games. He now has 40 extra-base hits and 21 stolen bases this season, putting him on pace for 80 extra-base hits and 42 stolen bases, one of 11 players in MLB history to record 80 or more extra-base hits and 40 or more stolen bases.

Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with one RBI and one strikeout as the Astros beat the Angels 4-2.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve is currently riding a 9-game hitting streak that has seen him go 14-for-36 during that stretch. Altuve is having an MVP-caliber season owning a slash line of .348/.425/.984 with 13 HR and 45 RBI, numbers that are rare and are being enjoyed by all of Jose's owners in fantasy baseball.

Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the fourth inning as the Astros held on to beat the Angels 10-7.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has a mini 3-game hit streak going after yesterday's game. He is raking in the month of June owning a .394 BA with 26 hits during the month so far. With his ability to get on-base, hit for power and steal bases he is fantasy gold and should continue to maintain his dominance all season long.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve drove in a run and scored one of the Astros' six runs in their shutout win at home against the Reds. Altuve's batting average now sits at .342.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve hasn't hit a home run or stolen a base in nine games now, but fantasy owners shouldn't be worried; it is only a matter of time before both of those droughts end.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 at the plate against St. Louis in a 5-2 Astros victory. He has now hit safely in six straight games.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve owned a 12-game hitting streak before it ended on June 7th against Texas. Since then, he has a hit in six straight and continues to dominate opposing pitchers with a .342 BA good for 2nd in the AL and 3rd overall in MLB. The Astros end their brief 2-game series with the Cardinals tonight as Adam Wainwright takes the mound. Altuve has three hits off Wainwright in 14 at-bats.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 in a 5-0 shutout loss against the Rays.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve was the only member of the Astros to record a hit on Sunday afternoon, being completely dominated by Matt Moore and the Rays pitching staff. With an off-day on Monday before the Astros head to St. Louis the team will look to regroup offensively. With Altuve swinging a hot bat, owning a .344/.419/.970 slash line, he should be in your starting lineup everyday.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one walk in the Astros 3-1 victory over Texas.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve swiped his AL-leading 18th bag of the year and was able to bounce-back after his double-digit hit streak was snapped the night before. Slashing .336/.414/.556, he is the engine that makes the Astros offense go and is a must-start in every format in every fantasy league.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 0-for-3 with one strikeout against the Rangers. Failing to record a hit, he snapped his 12-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve doesn't go many games in a row without registering at least one hit, so it is likely he will get back into the hit column against the Rangers tonight. He is a top-five fantasy player, no matter the position and is an early season MVP candidate. Altuve owners should sit back, and reap the benefits.

Jose Altuve on fire

Tue, Jun 7th 5:59pm EDT
By Chris Zolli

Jose Altuve now has a .969 OPS this season, as he has a 12-game hitting streak and has posted back-to-back multi-hit games. He slugged his 10th home run of the season against the Rangers on Monday night and now has 31 extra-base hits this season. Altuve has a .336 batting average and leads the league with 17 stolen bases.

Fantasy Impact: A combination of power and speed, Altuve is not only the top fantasy 2B, but is making a very strong case for the top player in fantasy baseball with his added power. Although it is too early in the season to make real projections, Altuve is on pace for 85 extra-base hits and 47 stolen bases, something that has never been done before in MLB history, with only nine seasons that had a player post 80 extra-base hits and 40 stolen bases. He is 5-for-13 against the Rangers' starter on Tuesday, Cole Hamels, and has a home run off of the left-handed ace.

Jose Altuve only managed one hit in four trips to the plate against the Diamondbacks as Houston was shutout 3-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve did manage to keep his hit-streak alive and is currently slashing .329/.405/.957 with 9 HR and 31 RBI. Those numbers, including his AL-leading 15 SB, rank him as the number one 2B in fantasy baseball currently. He is a must-start everyday and is worth the price in daily games as well.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a walk as the Astros beat the Diamondbacks in extra innings 5-4.

Fantasy Impact: Those two hits were the 900 and 901st of Altuve's young career. He is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak with the last four having at least two hits in those contests. The AL stolen base leader is a must-start in all formats and looks continue his dominance against an under-performing Zach Greinke today in an afternoon tilt against Arizona.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 4-for-6, all singles, in a 13-inning thriller against the Angels. The Astros were victorious 8-6.

Fantasy Impact: After failing to record a hit in four consecutive games, Altuve has rebounded nicely owning a four-game hitting streak with seven hits during that span. With a four game set against the Diamondbacks in which the two out of the next three games consist of lefty pitchers, Altuve should continue his hot-hitting ways.

Jose Altuve struggling as of late

Thu, May 26th 2:42pm EDT
By Dan Schalk

Jose Altuve failed to record a hit in four trips to the plate against the Orioles, dropping his BA to .312 on the year.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has gone hitless in four straight games, something he has not done since 2013. A combination of bad matchups against good pitching has contributed to his mini slide. Altuve owners should not fear, as he has proven over the course of his career that he is capable of turning this around in a matter of no-time. He faces Orioles starter Kevin Gausman tonight, who owns a sub-three ERA.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve, who seems to be matchup proof this season, is only 2-for-11 with a walk against Tuesday's starter for the Orioles, Chris Tillman. Altuve does have a .333 batting average at home this season, but only has a .250 batting average over the last seven days.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve's combination of power, 27 extra-base hits, and speed, 15-for-16 on stolen bases, makes him an interesting play on every night, but today is not the day for DFS players to splash the cash on Altuve. He is in a bit of a cold spell and his numbers against Tillman, who has a 2.61 ERA this season, do not help either. Season long owners should still start Altuve at 2B unless they are in such a shallow league that they have another top 2B, but they should not expect big things.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve was able to extend his hit streak to 11 games on Thursday despite facing Chris Sale. Altuve went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has reached base in all 17 games he's started in May. He continues to make a case for being the best fantasy baseball asset of the 2016 season. He's on pace to hit 30 HRs and steal 50 bases. He's an all-around contributor who's value is only heightened by the fact that he occupies 2B, a position that's fairly scarce of high-end talent, especially following Dee Gordon's suspension.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-5 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve extended his hitting streak to eight games Sunday. He has multi-hit games in four of his last five, with two stolen bases and six runs scored over that span. He continues to be arguably the best player in fantasy baseball considering his power/speed combo (15 stolen bases and 1.058 OPS).

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 1-for-5 at the plate scoring two runs and swiping two bags in a defeat against the Red Sox.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve is riding an eight-game hitting streak and leads the entire MLB in runs scored (37) and stolen bases (15). Looking ahead, the Astros open a three-game series against the White Sox in Chicago where Altuve will be facing lefty pitchers two out of the three games. In 2016, Altuve is hitting .458 vs lefties and has the highest batting average against southpaws in the entire major leagues since 2011 (.358). So he is a must-start in this series and moving forward.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with one strikeout against Cleveland.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve's numbers are unbelievable just over a month into the season. He is currently slashing .321/.404/1.045 with nine HR, 22 RBI, and 13 SB. He is clearly one of the most valuable players in fantasy baseball and his consistency is what sets him apart from the rest. Altuve has failed to record a hit only six times this season and has failed to reach base in only two games. He is a must start every night.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve was back to his usual self on Sunday, as he went 2-for-3 drawing one walk, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. He did it all for the Astros as they beat the Mariners 5-1.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve now has 13 stolen bases on the season, No.1 in the majors in that category. His aggressiveness on the base-paths sets him apart from others at his position, and with his ability to hit the long ball (9 HR), he makes the argument for most valuable player in fantasy baseball.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve continued his hot streak against the Mariners on Thursday night. He went 4-for-4 with his sixth lead-off home run this season. For the second game in a row, he ended a triple shy of the cycle.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve's six leadoff home runs tie a club record with Craig Biggio for most lead-off home runs in one season, and we are only in the beginning of May. With Jose's incredible power numbers to date, 9 HR and 19 RBI, he is playing like not only the top second baseman, but possibly the most valuable position player in all of fantasy baseball. He is a must-start every night, and it is doubtful Astros manager will be taking him out of the lineup anytime soon.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went hitless in three at-bats against the Twins, but did draw a walk that led to his 10th stolen base of the year and scored a run. The Astros beat the Twins 6-4.

Fantasy Impact: For the first time in ten games, Altuve's batting average dropped below .300, now sitting at .292. Even when he goes through a minor slump, he can still help your fantasy team. He is drawing walks at the highest rate during his entire career, he is leading all of baseball in stolen bases, which increases his chances of scoring runs. Overall, Altuve is a must-start in all formats

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve led off the game against the Athletics with a solo shot to straight-away center, his fourth leadoff home run this season. The Astros won in Oakland 2-1.

Fantasy Impact: Coming into the game, Altuve was 0-for-7 in the previous two games against the Athletics, so hitting the bomb was a nice confidence boost. The Astros return home after a rough West Coast road trip, but Altuve remains hot, slashing .306/.404/1.036. He is a must-start in every league.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 0-for-4 against the Athletics, snapping a 19-game streak in which he reached base safely.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve was due for an off-night after a blistering start to begin the season. He is slashing .315/.406/1.036 with six HR, 13 RBI, and nine SB, numbers that are worthy of MVP-consideration even though we are still in April. He is a must-play everyday in your fantasy lineup and is worth the cost in daily fantasy leagues as well.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve had an impressive game at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a leadoff home run and two doubles. He ended with two RBI as the Astros snapped their losing streak beating the Mariners 7-4.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has been the one constant for the Astros this season. He is currently hitting .330 with six home runs 13 RBI and nine stolen bases. Add in 13 doubles and it is clear Altuve is off to an amazing start and proving to be one of the most dominant offensive players in fantasy baseball.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 2-for-6 with one double and two stolen bases in an extra-inning loss to the Red Sox on Sunday night. He also had two fielding errors.

Fantasy Impact: Only one game this season has Altuve failed to reach base safely. He has a 16-game streak going since April 7th, which was the opening series against the Yankees. He is currently slashing .316/.409/.618 with five home runs 11 RBI and nine stolen bases. With those numbers he is proving to be the most valuable second baseman in fantasy baseball.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has reached base safely in 11 straight games, and has shown a recent surge of power at the plate. He has five home runs and five doubles to start the year. Add in his knack for stealing bases, and his .311 BA, Altuve is a must-start everyday.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve has shown his power as of late. He went 1-for-5 with a home run for the second game in a row as the Astros fell to the Rangers 6-4. He ended with two RBI.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has seen a power surge lately, hitting four home runs in his last six games. We knew he was capable of taking pitchers deep, accounting for 15 home runs last season, but at this rate he can approach the 20-25 home run mark, significantly increasing his already dominant fantasy value. With his power numbers, his strikeouts have also risen, whiffing 12 times in his last 14 games. Altuve should be in your lineup everyday, but especially against left-handers as he is hitting over .350 against them since 2011, best in MLB. The Astros take on lefty Cole Hamels and the Texas Rangers tonight.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve failed to record a hit in three at-bats against the Tigers. He did draw a walk as the Astros hung on to beat the Tigers 1-0.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve and struggle do not usually fit in the same sentence, but, after accruing 14 total bases in his last two games, he was due for an off-night. Do not expect this to continue, as the back-to-back AL hits leader does not slump for long. He should be in your starting lineup everyday.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 doubling twice and hitting his second home run of the season in the Astros 4-2 loss to the Royals. He finished the game with two RBI, giving him four on the young season.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has six hits in his last 13 at-bats and is really seeing the ball well right now. He is currently leading all of MLB in stolen bases with six, and the next closest player has three. Altuve is a must-start every game he is in the lineup and is proving to be one of the most reliable and dependable players in all of fantasy baseball.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve went 1-for-3 against the Brewers, taking the first pitch of the game deep for his first home run of the season. He also drew a walk and stole his fourth base of the young season. The Astros fell to the Brewers 3-2.

Fantasy Impact: It was good to see Altuve show his power after cracking a career-high 15 home runs last season. His aggressiveness on the base-paths has really stood out, swiping his fourth bag in six games this year. With the ability to get on-base, hit for decent power and be dominate in the steals department, Altuve is again showing why he is so valuable in fantasy baseball.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve managed one hit in five plate appearances against the Brewers, stealing his second base of the season. The Astros lost to the Brewers 6-4.

Fantasy Impact: It was nice to see Altuve continue his aggressiveness on the basepaths, getting inside the head of Brewers pitcher Chase Anderson before he swiped the bag. As long as Jose is in the Astros starting lineup, he is a must-start in all fantasy formats.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve had his first hitless game of the season yesterday in a 8-5 loss to the Yankees.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve had been riding a seven-game hitting streak dating back to last season, but could not figure out the Yankees pitching staff yesterday. The Astros head to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers, who rank 21st in MLB in ERA and dead last in strikeouts. Altuve is a must-start in all formats.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-3, scoring this third run of the season in a blowout loss to the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve has picked up right where he left off, recording at least one hit in his first two games. With the power hitting behind Altuve in the lineup he is capable of recording career-highs in runs scored. His previous high was 86 last season. Add in his batting average and stolen bases and it is clear Altuve is a sure-fire top-30 player.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-4, scoring two runs in the Astros' 5-3 Opening Day victory over the Yankees. He added his first stolen base of the season as well.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve picked up where he left off in 2015, reaching base multiple times, including a double off of Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka and swiped his first bag of the year. In frigid temperatures, Altuve was able to play his game, showing why he is considered the top second baseman in fantasy baseball.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve has a .333 batting average and eight RBI this spring, showing that he is looking to top his strong four year run. Altuve saw his batting average dip from .341 in 2014 to .313 in 2015, but hit more home runs (15) in 2015 than he did in 2013 and 2014 combined (12).

Fantasy Impact: Jose Altuve hit for power (59 extra base hits) in 2015, but also saw his stolen bases drop from 56 in 2014 to 38 in 2015. He does not walk very much, but he makes a lot of contact and has had 200 or more hits in each of the last two seasons. Second base is not usually seen as a strong offensive position, but it has been stronger of the last couple seasons; Altuve's .821 OPS and 35+ stolen base potential makes him the top option at the position. He should be targeted in the middle of the second round, but has looked like a first round pick this spring.

Jose Altuve went 0-for-1 at the plate, drawing three walks and scoring one run as the Astros beat the Tigers 10-4.

Fantasy Impact: Drawing three walks is a great sign for Altuve and his future fantasy owners, showing plate discipline this early in the Spring. Since he became the Astros everyday second baseman in the 2012 season, Altuve has never had less than a .316 OBP, showing the value in getting on-base and wreaking havoc on the base-paths. Altuve will be gone in the first round of most fantasy drafts.

Jose Altuve went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI against the Braves on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact: Both of Altuve's doubles came with two-outs which continues to show Jose's innate ability to make contact late in the count and inning. Altuve is currently the top second baseman in fantasy and his ADP in most fantasy drafts is at the bottom of round one. With his ability to affect the game on multiple levels (BA, SB, RBI, R) he is one of the most 'sure-things' in fantasy.

Category: , Game Recaps

Jose Altuve saw his first game action this spring, going 1-for-3 with an RBI-double in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve is regarded as one of the top second baseman in fantasy baseball, and 2016 should be no different. Coming off a season in which Altuve hit career-high's in HR (15), RBI (66) and runs scored (86) expectations are sky-high. Altuve is looking for his third straight season of batting over .300 and his fifth straight season of 30+ stolen bases. Those reasons alone, make Altuve worthy of a first round pick in most fantasy drafts.

Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with three singles, one RBI, and one run against the Royals in Game 1 of the ALDS.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve wasn't lighting up the fantasy box scores, but he was solid as usual, with his only downside on the day being getting caught stealing against SP Chris Young (who is notoriously bad at stopping runners). Altuve, while great, is not a very good value on Friday in DFS against SP Johnny Cueto, as there are better matchups for cheaper prices in a "full" slate of games.

The Angels intentionally walked Jose Altuve with two outs before a triple by Springer to right field off Gott scored them both.

Fantasy Impact: Jose Altuve remains a risk to opposing pitchers at the plate as he was intientionally walked on Wednesday by the Angels. He went 2-4 with three runs scored and one walk in the loss to the Angels. Altuve has three straight games with a double as he continues to get on base as the Astros are struggling to finish up the year.

Jose Altuve went 1-for-3 with an RBI single on Saturday against the Braves.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve had another good day at the plate and looks to be rounding into form. He is a top-2 2B along with Robinson Cano and is going around the 2nd round of drafts. Be careful about your expectations though, as he is likely to regress in batting average, and is unlikely to repeat the SB total from last season.

Fantasy Impact: Altuve is looking to keep his momentum going from an All-Star 2014 campaign that saw him break Craig Biggio's franchise record for hits in one season, as he ended with 225. Altuve has potential to be the top ranked second baseman in fantasy this season, and should be drafted within the first few rounds of most drafts.
