Julio Rodriguez speed to be on display in 2023

Mariners breakout star Julio Rodriguez might get back to utilizing his speed after a dip in that department in the second half last season, per Corey Brock of The Athletic.

Fantasy Impact

Rodriguez swiped 25 bases in his rookie season, but only four of those came in the second half. However, Mariners manager Scott Servais hinted at that having more to do with injury than anything, saying "that's a big part of his game." Look for Rodriguez to hit the ground running, no pun intended, this season and produce another stellar year.

Seattle Mariners superstar Julio Rodriguez is healed from a broken pinkie finger suffered in the playoffs.

Fantasy Impact

Rogriguez hurt his finger sliding into second base in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Houston Astros. General manager Jerry Dipito relayed Rogriguez is working out aggressively, leading to the notion he will be good to go for spring training later this month. The 22-year-old exploded out of the gate with 28 home runs, 25 stolen bases, and an .854 OPS across 132 games in 2022, claiming AL Rookie of the Year honors in the process.

Julio Rodriguez goes deep Wednesday

Julio Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run Wednesday against the Tigers.

Fantasy Impact

Rodriguez hit a leadoff home run off Tyler Alexander for his 28th long ball on the season which broke a single-season record for Seattle for a rookie. He saw just two at-bats in a meaningless game for the Mariners. The likely AL Rookie of the Year will be needed in a big Wildcard series this weekend against the Blue Jays.

Julio Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with one RBI, one run and one strikeout Monday against the Tigers.

Fantasy Impact

After missing the last 10 days due to a back injury, Rodriguez returned like he never left. He is currently slashing .284/.345/.506 as he continues to post a strong resume to win AL Rookie of the Year. It will be worth watching to see if he can get back in the outfield before the playoffs begin as Rodriguez served as the designated hitter Monday night.
