It's an independent league in Japan. Tazawa was released by the Reds back in April and might have made his last appearance in Major League Baseball already. He had several good season with the Red Sox as a setup man.

He was simply atrocious at the beginning of the season, but has had a solid month of July. Also, manager Don Mattingly is very likely to go with experience over talent.
