The Rays have reassigned outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy to minor league camp.
Fantasy Impact
Malloy was acquired via trade from the Tigers this off-season but had a tough spring. The 26-year-old went 8-for-36 (.222) without a homer and just two walks across 38 trips to the plate this spring. He is career .209 hitter with nine homers and a .657 OPS across 357 plate appearances in the big leagues.
Justyn-Henry Malloy has been traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for cash considerations. Malloy was designed for assignment last month to make room for Kyle FInnegan. Meanwhile, the Rays do not need to make a corresponding roster move with two openings on their 40-man roster.
Fantasy Impact
Malloy, a sixth-round pick by the Braves in the 2021 MLB Draft, was traded by Atlanta to Detroit in 2022. Malloy played parts of two seasons with the Tigers, batting .209 in 357 career plate appearances. Malloy, a righthanded-hitting outfielder, has a little pop as he hit eight home runs in 230 plate appearances in 2024. Malloy, who is a career .286 hitter in the minors with 61 home runs in five seasons, gives the Rays a right-handed hitting option in the outfield.
The Tigers designated OF Justyn-Henry Malloy for assignment.
Fantasy Impact
Malloy loses his spot on the 40-man roster with Detroit. He has shown enough to where he could draw some interest on waivers.
The Tigers have recalled Justyn-Henry Malloy from Triple-A Toledo.
Fantasy Impact
Malloy will replace Jace Jung, who was optioned in a corresponding move. Malloy is hitting .214 with one home run and 16 RBI with the Tigers this season.

Fantasy Impact
Malloy will add another bat off the bench for Detroit. He'll remain off the fantasy radar.
