Kendry Morales was officially released by the Yankees on Tuesday.
Morales returned from the the injured list last week, was designated for assignment, and then released. He slashed .177/.320/.242 in 19 games for the Yankees.
The Yankees placed Kendrys Morales on the 10-day IL with a left calf strain.
Morales isn't doing much this year, batting .194 with just two homers. New York called up Mike Tauchman from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Kendrys Morales went 1-for-4 with a solo home run as the Yankees beat the Rays on Friday by a 4-3 score.
Morales was picked up this week by the injury-depleted Yankees for depth. The veteran slugger struggled with the A's hitting .204 with one home run before the moved on from him. Morales is not worth adding in fantasy but if he gets hot he could be worth grabbing in deeper leagues.

He has batted just .204 with one home run over his first 108 at-bats of the season but will now have a chance for a fresh start in New York.

Morales hit just .204 with one homer through 34 games with the A's. He was acquired from Toronto before the season began but it just didn't work out. He'll likely pass through waivers and become a free agent.
