The Oakland Athletics have traded first baseman Kendrys Morales and cash to the New York Yankees for a player to be named later or cash considerations, according to Jessica Kleinschmidt of NBC Sports on Twitter. (Jessica Kleinschmidt on Twitter)
Morales had been designated for assignment by the Athletics shortly after the team activated first baseman Matt Olson, and the injury-riddled Yankees made the move to buy-low on the veteran slugger. He has batted just .204 with one home run over his first 108 at-bats of the season but will now have a chance for a fresh start in New York.
