Eligibility
Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Saturday against the Dodgers.
Fantasy Impact
This is getting to be a pretty typical line for Schwarber these days, who added another strikeout and now has 51 on the season. His lack of contact is holding down his counting stats, but not his power, as his 10 home runs put him among the league leaders. There's enough in Schwarber's past to give you confidence that he'll rebound from his .200 batting average, but either way, he's always worth starting for his power numbers.
Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a run scored on Friday against the Dodgers.
Fantasy Impact
Schwarber's batting average continues to hover around .200 and is held down by two things: his 31.8% strikeout rate and his 52.9% fly ball rate. Despite his solid quality of contact, Schwarber's xBA is just .219, and nothing in his profile suggests a turnaround is imminent. Still, he continues to show power and put up counting stats, so managers should do their best to address batting average elsewhere if they can.
Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a solo home run on Saturday against the Dodgers.
Fantasy Impact
For all of his warts this year, there's no doubting Schwarber's power, and his home run traveled 412 feet and left the bat at 103.7 miles per hour. He's hitting far too many fly balls, as his 50% fly ball rate and meager nine percent line drive rate are way out of line with his career marks. That should be correctable but, even if not, Schwarber is likely going to top 35 home runs this year. Managers should try to make sure they can withstand the batting average hit, but all indications are that his power numbers will be where they need to be by season's end.
Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-5 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a home run on Friday against the Dodgers.
Fantasy Impact
Schwarber may be batting just .190, but there's little to complain about with his power. His eight home runs are tied for the lead with the Phillies, and his home run on Friday had a 113.8 MPH exit velocity and traveled 430 feet. Schwarber's issues are mostly that he's being too passive at the plate, especially with pitches in the zone (his 59.5% Z-Swing% is the lowest of his career by far) which is leading to a bloated strikeout rate. Chances are, he'll adjust his approach, and considering how strong his power numbers are already, his season should take off at some point soon.
Philadephia Phillies LF Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-3 at the plate on Thursday, hitting an RBI single, and striking out once in the Phillies' 9-7 win over the Dodgers.
Fantasy Impact
Schwarber has not had the start to the year that many fans in Philly had hoped for after the team went big in free agency to grab both Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos. The outfielder is batting a rather horrible .189 but still happens to have seven home runs and 18 RBI's which displays his power.
