Bachar, 31, has posted a 3.84 ERA across 38 outings for the Marlins this season. He owns a 3.88 ERA in 101 career appearances and will serve in middle relief for the Pirates as they push toward the postseason.

Lake Bachar gave up no runs in the ninth inning of Sunday's win over the San Francisco Giants to earn his first save of the season.

Bachar drew the save opportunity with Pete Fairbanks getting the day off after pitching in each of the previous two games. Bachar has been excellent this season, posting a 3.08 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 46 strikeouts across 41.2 innings. He could see additional save chances when Fairbanks is unavailable.

Lake Bachar earned the save after allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless outing against the Astros.
