Luke Williams elected free agency.
Fantasy Impact
Williams went unclaimed on waivers. He'll seek another opportunity.
Luke Williams had his contract selected by the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. The utilityman will be on the active roster while Michael Harris II is on the paternity list. Lefthander Danny Young was placed on the 60-day IL to make room for Williams on the 40-man roster.
Fantasy Impact
Williams will fill a depth role while Harris II is out of action, but likely won't see much playing time over the next few days. The veteran has played parts of three seasons with the Braves and has hit just .151 in 95 plate appearances in Atlanta. He is, however, 11-for-11 in stolen bases and could be used as a defensive replacement/pinch-runner over the next few games. Williams is out of options so he will likely be designated for assignment once Harris II returns.
Utility infielder Luke Williams has been reassigned to minor league camp by the Atlanta Braves.
Fantasy Impact
Williams went 5-for-28 (.179) with a home run and three stolen bases in 10 games this spring. The 29-year-old is a career .212 hitter in 349 plate appearances across parts of five major league seasons. He'll likely never hit much at the big league level, but he's a solid defensive replacement and can certainly run. Williams will open the year in Gwinnett, but he'll see time in Atlanta in a reserve role at some point.

The deal includes an invite to spring training. Williams returns to Atlanta competing for a utility role off the bench.
