Oakland A's catcher Manny Pina will begin the season on the injured list as he deals with left wrist inflammation.
Fantasy Impact
It's been a tough go this spring for the veteran backstop as Pina has been slowed by a calf injury and injured his wrist in a minor-league simulated game on March 13. It's a tough blow considering he had the same wrist surgery repaired last May and missed the remainder of the season while with the Braves. Pina's 2022 season was limited to just five games but he hit 13 homers as a platoon catcher with the Brewers in the 2021 campaign.
Oakland A's catcher Manny Pina ran the bases Sunday and the club is targeting a March 14 return to Cactus League action.
Fantasy Impact
Pina has been dealing with left calf soreness this spring but came away feeling healthy after running the bases Sunday. The veteran backstop appeared in just five MLB games with the Braves last season but homered 13 times across just 75 games with the 2021 Milwaukee Brewers. A decent source of pop in his big-league career, Pina will be the A's 1B catcher behind the much younger Shea Langeliers to begin the 2023 campaign.
Oakland A's catcher Manny Pina should be ready for Opening Day as he recovers from calf soreness.
Fantasy Impact
Pina took batting practice off teammate James Kaprielian on March 2 and needs to go through a normal running progression before appearing in a spring game. The 25-year-old appeared in just five games for the Braves last season but managed 13 homers in just 208 plate appearances with the 2021 Brewers. If he can get decent playing time his pop could provide some value in two-catcher leagues.
Catcher Manny Pina signed a two-year deal worth $8 million with the Atlanta Braves on Monday.
Fantasy Impact
Pina will make $3.5 million in the first year of his deal and $4.5 in the second year. He hit a career-high 13 home runs last season across 75 games.
Manny Pina went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Cardinals.
Fantasy Impact
Pina went deep in the seventh inning to extend Milwaukee's lead. The backup catcher is batting .194 on the season with 13 homers and 33 RBI.
