Matt Albers earned the save as the Brewers defeated the Twins 6-5.
Albers made things interesting by issuing three walks in the inning, but escaped to preserve the comeback win for the Brewers. He has now contributed a scoreless appearance in 13 of his last 14 outings.
Matt Albers earned the save Saturday against the Rangers, throwing a clean ninth inning with a 3-2 lead.
Albers did not start the inning, but was summoned when Alex Claudio allowed the leadoff batter of the ninth inning to reach via a single. Albers was likely filling in for a resting Josh Hader, who had been used extensively lately. Albers has a 3.93 ERA and a 49:18 K:BB in 50.1 innings this season.
Matt Albers allowed one run on two hits in the ninth inning of Tuesday's win over the Pirates, earning him the save.
With Josh Hader likely unavailable due to a scheduled day-off, Albers was summoned to close out the game. He was able to do so, but surrendered a run in the process. Tuesday snapped Albers's streak of nine straight scoreless appearances.
Matt Albers picked up his first save of the season Sunday against the Pirates. He allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning to secure the 2-1 victory.
Jeremy Jeffress was called on to pitch the eighth inning when the game was tied, and Albers was summoned for the ninth after the Brewers took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. He's been a reliable arm for the Brewers this season, but is clearly lightyears away from usurping the closer's role from Josh Hader.
Matt Albers (shoulder) was activated from the disabled list on Saturday.
Albers hasn't pitched since June 11 with the ailment, and he'll presumably work in the sixth and seventh innings out of the pen for Milwaukee, who acquired Joakim Soria from the White Sox in Albers' absence. His 3.45 ERA and 4.63 FIP are heavily inflated by the week before he went on the disabled list and was presumably pitching through injury. Through June 1 Albers had a 1.42 ERA and 3.24 FIP before things went south.
