The glove-first Straw has been excellent at the plate in his brief time this season, slashing .324/.375/.459 with a homer and a stolen base across 41 trips to the plate.

Straw replaced an injured Daulton Varsho early in Friday's game and went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and an additional run scored in his three trips to the plate. At-bats have been few and far between for the veteran for the Blue Jays this season, but Straw has still managed to go 8-for-20 (.400) with a double, a homer, and a walk with just two strikeouts across 21 trips to the plate. He could see some additional starts if Varsho misses time moving forward.
Straw slashed .262/.313/.367 with four home runs — tying his career high — and 12 steals in 13 attempts across 299 plate appearances last season and will be on Toronto's Opening Day roster.
