Miami Marlins pitcher Nic Enwright threw a second 20-pitch bullpen session Sunday after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma earlier this spring.

Marlins pitching coach Mell Stottlemyre Jr. said he doesn't want to rush Enwright as he fell behind in camp while receiving treatment this spring. The 26-year-old split the 2022 season between the Double-A and Triple-A levels with the Guardians organization last season, posting a 2.68 ERA and an impressive 30.3% K-BB% across 29 appearances at the Triple-A level. It certainly appears his potential big league debut will be on hold in 2023.

Enright was a selected by the Marlins in the 2022 Rule 5 draft. The positive news in Enright’s post is that he has completed his first round of treatments as he continues to work towards a return to the mound. He was playing catch at Marlins’ camp Monday, but is going to need to be cleared before he can begin getting ready for the 2023 season.
