Pedro Avila

Pedro Avila has signed a one-year split contract with the Cleveland Guardians. Salary terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Avila, 29, returns to Cleveland after a one-year stint with the Yakult Swallows in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. In 2024, Avila pitched in 50 games for Cleveland and went 5-1 with a 3.25 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 74.2 innings. He was surprisingly cut loose after his 2024 campaign and ended up in Japan. The righthander has a career ERA of 3.51 in 146.1 innings between San Diego and Cleveland and has averaged more than a strikeout per inning.
