Ryan Bergert optioned to Triple-A Omaha

Righthander Ryan Bergert has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha by the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Impact

Bergert appeared in the majors for the first time last season and started 15 games between San Diego and Kansas City. He posted a respectable 3.66 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP in 76.1 innings with a 73:35 K:BB ratio. However, his numbers declined after arriving in Kansas City as he pitched to a 4.43 ERA in eight starts with the Royals. He also struggled this spring, posting a 6.52 ERA in 9.2 innings while serving up an alarming five home runs. Bergert will be a call-up candidate should the Royals need a replacement in the rotation.
