Ryan Bergert optioned to Triple-A Omaha

by David Leisering | Royals Correspondent | Tue, Mar 17th 9:24pm EDT

Righthander Ryan Bergert has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha by the Kansas City Royals. (Kansas City Royals on X)

Fantasy Impact:

Bergert appeared in the majors for the first time last season and started 15 games between San Diego and Kansas City. He posted a respectable 3.66 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP in 76.1 innings with a 73:35 K:BB ratio. However, his numbers declined after arriving in Kansas City as he pitched to a 4.43 ERA in eight starts with the Royals. He also struggled this spring, posting a 6.52 ERA in 9.2 innings while serving up an alarming five home runs. Bergert will be a call-up candidate should the Royals need a replacement in the rotation.
