Fantasy Impact
Harbin has been sidelined due to a teres major strain. He will open the season in Triple-A.
Ryan Harbin (shoulder) has been shut down from throwing activities due to an injury to his teres major. He will be re-evaluated in approximately six weeks.
Fantasy Impact
Harbin, who was added to the Pirates' 40-man roster in November, was likely a longshot to make the Opening Day roster regardless. The righthander, who has yet to make his major league debut, pitched at three different levels last season and combined for a 4.69 ERA in 63.1 innings. The 24-year-old struck out a whopping 92 batters, but also walked 46 in those 63.1 innings. He may end up spending the year in Triple-A Indianapolis to work on his command, but he is a name to watch in the Pirates' bullpen in the near future.
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of right-hander Ryan Harbin from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, adding him to the 40-man roster. Harbin, 24, began the 2025 season at High-A Greensboro and managed to reach Triple-A by the end of the year.
Fantasy Impact
While Harbin has secured a spot on the 40-man roster, he struggled during his time at Indianapolis, giving up 17 earned runs in just 13.1 innings. Because of this, the team may want him to get more reps at Triple-A before he makes his MLB debut, though he has an outside chance to make the Pirates' Opening Day roster.
