Sam Aldegheri goes four innings in first start of season

Sam Aldegheri allowed two runs on four hits, walked two, and did not strike out a batter over four innings in his first start of the season Tuesday. The Angels defeated the White Sox, 4-3.

Fantasy Impact

Aldegheri was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday and made his first start of the year a day later. It was a rough opening for the young lefthander as he allowed two hits, two walks, and a sacrifice fly to the first five batters as Chicago took a 2-0 lead. But, he settled in and allowed only two singles over his last 3.2 scoreless innings. He exited after just 69 pitches despite the fact he was locked in and threw 97 pitches in his last minor league start last Tuesday. With Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder) landing on the IL, there is an opening in the rotation in the short term, so it's possible that Aldegheri may end up getting a couple more starts.
