Suzuki had an RBI single and scored in the first and then doubled and scored in the seventh. He has hit safely in six of his seven games and is currently riding a four-game hitting streak. His double on Friday was his first extra-base hit of the year and his RBI was just his second of the season. Still, Suzuki is hitting .286 (8-for-28) with a .394 on-base percentage. He hit a career-high 32 homers last season, so you have to figure the power should come any day now.

Suzuki singled in the fourth off of Pirates' starter, Carmen Mlodzinski, then drew a walk in the eighth against Gregory Soto. Suzuki missed the Cubs' first 12 games of the season after suffering a right knee sprain while playing for Japan in the World Baseball Classic. He went 6-for-14 with five runs scored and two doubles at Double-A Knoxville during his rehab assignment. Suzuki posted career-highs in both home runs (32) and RBI (103) last season and should produce decent numbers in the middle of the Cubs' lineup again this year.
