Braves pitcher Touki Toussaint is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Rockies.
Toussaint was recently shifted to a relief role and made one appearance out of the bullpen, allowing one walk during a scoreless inning. Now, he's rejoining the rotation during a game at the hitter-friendly Coors Field. The 25-year-old is 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and .217 OBA through eight games (seven starts) this season. He has amassed 40 strikeouts while allowing seven homers and 15 walks up to this point.
Touki Toussaint pitched 5 1/3 innings against the Orioles Sunday, allowing five hits, one run (earned), and three walks while striking out five batters. The Braves bullpen held the Orioles scoreless the rest of the way and Toussaint earned the win, his record now 3-2 on the year. He threw 89 pitches, 59 for strikes, and carries a 3.69 ERA.
Toussaint has stepped up and done an admirable job as a starter for the team. Ian Anderson will return soon and a spot in the rotation will be cleared for him unless the Braves go with a six-man rotation down the stretch.
Touki Toussaint pitched 6 1/3 innings against the Marlins Monday, allowing three hits, two runs (both earned), and two walks while striking out seven batters. The game was never in doubt, with the Braves winning 12-2. He earned a quality start and a win, his record is 2-2 on the year. He threw 97 pitches, 62 for strikes, and carries a 4.01 ERA.
It was an impressive start for the 25-year old. He's a promising pitcher that needs to overcome consistency issues to become a solid fantasy contributor. He has the talent and desire to do just that.
Touki Toussaint pitched five-plus innings against the Reds Wednesday, allowing four hits, two runs (both earned), and three walks while striking out five batters. He was not a factor in the decision. He threw 97 pitches, 58 for strikes. Toussaint carries a 4.28 ERA.
Toussaint's third trip through the order and his elevated pitch count led to his ouster. That's pretty much the book on him, just crazy inefficient, and, at least this far, the second to third trip through the batting order is too much for the 25-year old. He has talent, he just needs more development.
Touki Toussaint pitched 5 1/3 innings against the Cards Thursday, allowing five hits, three runs (two earned), and two walks while striking out three batters. The Braves won 8-4 but Toussaint was left with a no-decision. He threw 94 pitches, 49 for strikes. He carries a 4.43 ERA.
The luster is beginning to fade off of Toussaint as old problems have started to reappear in his pitching. He still shows promise but there are probably better options out there for you in fantasy.
