SP - LAA
Touki Toussaint did not factor into the decision after throwing five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out six in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the A's.
Toussaint has been solid since joining the Angels at the trade deadline, and this was his best start so far. Since becoming a Halo, the 26-year-old holds a 2.70 ERA in 13 1/3 innings to go along with 15 strikeouts. He does not hold much fantasy value, but he has earned a spot in the rotation going forward.
Touki Toussaint was traded to the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations and optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Toussaint was designated for assignment on Saturday by the Braves but will now find himself in the Angels organization. In 11 games with the Braves, he posted a 4.50 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a career low 8.64 K/9 ratio. The young right-handed will need to prove himself again in Triple-A and does not hold much fantasy value right now.
The Braves designated Touki Toussaint for assignment on Saturday.
The Braves needed to open a spot on the 40-man roster to allow Jay Jackson to come off the 60-day IL, and Toussaint was the casualty. Once a heralded prospect, Toussaint was never able to overcome injury and ineffectiveness, and he had a 5.46 ERA in the majors in 145 innings, as well as a 6.26 ERA in Triple-A this year. Expect him to latch on somewhere else, but it's highly unlikely he'll be a fantasy-relevant player at any time soon, or possibly ever.
Braves pitcher Touki Toussaint is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Rockies.
Toussaint was recently shifted to a relief role and made one appearance out of the bullpen, allowing one walk during a scoreless inning. Now, he's rejoining the rotation during a game at the hitter-friendly Coors Field. The 25-year-old is 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and .217 OBA through eight games (seven starts) this season. He has amassed 40 strikeouts while allowing seven homers and 15 walks up to this point.
Touki Toussaint pitched 5 1/3 innings against the Orioles Sunday, allowing five hits, one run (earned), and three walks while striking out five batters. The Braves bullpen held the Orioles scoreless the rest of the way and Toussaint earned the win, his record now 3-2 on the year. He threw 89 pitches, 59 for strikes, and carries a 3.69 ERA.
Toussaint has stepped up and done an admirable job as a starter for the team. Ian Anderson will return soon and a spot in the rotation will be cleared for him unless the Braves go with a six-man rotation down the stretch.
