His second double of the game, off of Will Klein in the bottom of the sixth, brought home a pair of runs and gave the Rockies the lead for good. Johnston also nabbed his first stolen base of the year after a single to lead off the bottom of the second. Johnston is having a nice start to the season, batting .305 (18-for-59) with five doubles, two home runs, and 10 runs batted in while being penciled into the starting lineup nearly every day.

Johnston was hit in the thigh by a pitch in the first inning of Wednesday's loss. He did remain in the game, drew a walk in the third, and then was replaced at first base in the bottom half. Rockies' manager, Warren Schaeffer, said that Johnston had a bruised right quadriceps and "will be fine." Johnston has been a nice addition to the Colorado lineup as he is hitting .298 (14-for-47) with two home runs, seven RBI, and an .854 OPS through 15 games. Schaeffer may elect to give Johnston the day off on Thursday to have him ready for a four-game series with the Dodgers which begins Friday.

Johnston continued his torrid start to the 2026 season as he finished a triple shy of the cycle on Monday. Johnston reached on a bunt single in the second, had an RBI double in the fifth, and belted a solo home run off of Ryan Weiss in the seventh. It was Johnston's second home run of the season and he is now hitting .333 (10-for-30) with two doubles, two home runs, and five runs batted in. It looks like he will be a regular in the Rockies' lineup so he may be worth taking a flier on in deeper leagues.

Johnston batted leadoff for the Rockies on Wednesday with McCarthy not in the starting lineup and he is now batting .333 (5-for-15) with a homer and three RBI in five games this season. The stolen base was his first of the year and his third in 49 career games.
