Herrera, the Colorado Rockies’ No. 14 prospect, was originally placed on the injured list with elbow inflammation before an MRI revealed a tear. He is currently seeking a second opinion, with next steps expected to be announced in the coming days. In Triple-A Albuquerque, he posted a 5.16 ERA across 16 appearances this season while striking out 34 batters over 22.2 innings.
Welinton Herrera (elbow) has been transferred to the 60-day IL by the Colorado Rockies. The move allows an open spot on the 40-man roster for righthander TJ Shook, who was called up on Monday.
